Such a powerful and motivating event & report. I will share widely since we don't have a coalition like New Lynn where I live. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’₯πŸ’–

What an extraordinary, beautiful event and wonderful write up!

The participation of labor and the Haitian community was exemplary and the connections with both religious representatives and labor along with teachers showed us how to build Coalition’s.

In San Diego, we helped on the coordinating committee to pull a similar Coalition into it’s initial steps towards formation, but we lacked the connection with the Haitian community, which is overwhelmingly new. many other sectors of the immigrant population are yet to come forward, though many were invited. We drew just over 100 people to the event and everybody got to stand up during the four hour event at one point and say why they were there.

One of our comrades got to open up at the beginning with a historical context of how right wing and fascist elements, all across the globe are using scapegoating tactics to distract from the savage wealth inequality and role of the billionaires in the authoritarian takeover of the White House and the body politic.

What was exceptional was that the meeting was held entirely in Spanish with simultaneous translation provided by Road members into English using wireless transmitters. Interestingly, the main group that needed translation were Filipinos and other peace and solidarity activists.

Mexico solidarity project was mentioned numerous times.

We estimated that our local effort which included people who are in the book club now, brought 15 to 20% of the participants.

Our outreach helped to put us on the map, and our participation throughout the day, put us in a very favorable position to keep building this movement with other allied leaders.

A regular set of meetings in between our monthly Peoples assembly (A formulation promoted by NDLON) is going to keep us very very busy.

Activist, San Diego is the lead organization for the Peoples March just days before the inauguration in San Diego, is adding to a workload. This is going be very hard to sustain but NEW friends are showing up daily.
