Hi Michael, thanks for reading and commenting. Liberation Road shares your horror at the US's complicity in the ongoing genocide in Gaza. And agree we must continue to organize against the war and work to dismantle US imperialism. We believe a Harris presidency will create more favorable conditions for those tasks than an emboldened MAGA movement and a 2nd Trump administration. Choosing between candidates does not mean we support their positions, it means we are determining which of them (as well as the broader social, political and economic blocs coalesced behind them) create more possibility for ongoing organizing and mobilization, as well as which is a better target for our campaigns and our demands.
We certainly do not think Kamala Harris will single-handedly stop fascism. That is a task much bigger than any one candidate or election. But we do think keeping Trump out of the white house will prevent neo-fascist forces from seizing the powers of the federal government and using them to enact fascist policies, such as the mass deportations described in Bill's article.
We agree our task is to build a united front against fascism. Our approach to united front-building is to create as wide a front as possible against as narrow an enemy as we can, and inside that front to build and strengthen the organized forces of the left.
